We live in a desert environment with many species of animals and on occasion, we come in contact with them. Injured and orphaned animals are a common occurrence; particularly in the Spring when we have babies and juveniles coming out of the burrow or nest.
Things to know:
The organizations listed below are a combination of private (paid) services, volunteer (donation) organizations, and a governmental agency (AZ Game and Fish). AZ Game and Fish provides information only. They will not come out to assist you.
The paid services will come to your location and the voluntary organizations require you to bring the animal to them if you can do so safely. If you cannot, they will send a qualified volunteer out to assist you.
In the Springtime it is not uncommon to find juvenile birds (other than ducks, geese) on the ground. If they are healthy, leave them alone. The parents are nearby and will feed and check on them about every 20 minutes.
If you find juvenile ducks, geese, coyote, bobcat and javelina on the ground and they have not been visited by an adult parent for an hour or more, call the AZ Game and Fish (below) for instructions before attempting to render any aid.
If you encounter an animal and need assistance, contact one of the organizations or agencies below before you attempt to render aid.
